Diego Simeone is said to be looking for a long-term replacement for midfielder veteran Gabi who is nearing the end of his road with Los Colchineros.
The 34-year-old midfielder is not getting any younger and Atletico Madrid boss wants to bring in a timely replacement and avoid risk of being too exposed next campaign.
Marca claims Simeone has already identified a potential Gabi replacement and it’s Marcelo Brozovic of Inter Milan.
The Croatian international has had an erratic season with Nerazzurri but is finally proving his worth thanks to Luciano Spalletti’s decision to field him in a deeper midfield position. Brozovic is thriving in his new role which allowed him to scoop a Man of the Match performance in the goalless draw against city rivals AC Milan earlier this week.
Atletico Madrid will need to table a bid of at least €20 million if they are to intrigue Inter Milan into selling their resurgent star.
