Tottenham fans will remember the name Luka Modric with some fondness, but he’s not the only talented Croatian midfielder around. There are a host of them in fact, but it is Marcelo Brozovic who could be the one making the switch to North London, according to Sky Sports, as Spurs have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race for his signature.

Brozovic is in his fourth season with Serie A giants Inter Milan, and has established himself as an important presence in the heart of the midfield. With three goals and an assist from midfield through 14 appearances this season, there is little doubt of the Croatian’s talent.

Liverpool and Tottenham are the two sides leading the race to acquire his services, and it is perhaps unsurprising that both Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino are in the market to bolster their midfields.

The Reds have already lost Philippe Coutinho, who was occupying the left midfield role, in this transfer window, and the future of regular starter Emre Can is also hanging in the balance after contract negotiations stalled.

Spurs meanwhile have had their fair share of injuries in the middle of the park, with Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama both missing time.
